Head of Government:President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh
Christians:4.5%

The tiny nation of the Gambia is one of the poorest in the world. Surrounded by Senegal, approximately one third of the population lives below the poverty level.
Half of the 32 people groups living in the Gambia are unreached. All of these practice either Islam or ethnic religions.
PRAISE
Islam is the religion practiced by most Gambians, however it is more tolerant than that practiced by the nations of North Africa and the Middle East. This has allowed the Church to grow without much persecution.
PRAY FOR
  • Christian humanitarian organizations to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the people. (The Bible, Psalm 146:7)
  • the lies of Islam to be exposed. Pray for the hearts of Gambians to be open and ready to receive the Gospel. (The Bible, Luke 8:15)
  • a great harvest of souls as the Gospel is proclaimed throughout this nation. (The Bible, Romans 1:16)
